THE NEED TO KNOW

3 Steps Every Marylander Must Take to Purchase a Regulated Firearm

1. Complete (4) hours of handgun training with MGFA, LLC.

2. Complete “livescan” fingerprints.
3.Complete Maryland State Police Handgun Qualification License Application.

There are a few EXCEPTIONS TO POSSESSION OF THE HQL LICENSE.

  1.  You are a Licensed Firearms Manufacturer.

  2. You are an Active law enforcement officer or a person retired in good standing from a law enforcement agency of the United States , the State, or a local law enforcement agency of the State.

  3. You are an Active or retired member of the United States Armed Forces or National Guard and possesses a valid military identification card.

  4. You are A person purchasing, renting or receiving an antique, curio or relic as defined in federal law.

  5. Maryland licensed firearms dealers. (Sole Proprietors)

CCW FAQs

- If you have Maryland’s Wear or Carry Handgun Permit (WCHP), you can conceal carry a firearm anywhere in the state.

​

 - Only people that are twenty-one years old or more are allowed to apply for a CCW permit unless it is needed for employment purposes. In this case, you must be at least eighteen years old.

​

   - Before your Maryland concealed carry application is accepted, you must prove to the issuing body that you need to conceal carry for an important reason.
